What's interesting about Strasburg in a religious sense is that he is being hailed as a "savior" for the Washington Nationals. Maybe comparing him to Jesus is a bit strong - no doubt that will be reserved for Bryce Harper - but fans are convinced he can take his team to the promised land. So maybe Moses is the best biblical comparison.
But Moses had lots of setbacks. During difficult times, many of his people betrayed his wishes and refused to stand by him. Will the 40,000 Nationals faithful mentioned in the blog, an interesting number given the biblical reference, stand with Strasburg when he struggles? Will they support him he is injured? What about when he signs with the Yankees? Consider me skeptical.
